Walter De Gregorio, born 1965, studied history, constitutional law and political philosophy at the University of Zurich and UC Berkeley, USA.

After his studies, he worked for almost twenty years as a journalist for leading publications in Switzerland and abroad, print and TV, including five years in Rome as the Italian correspondent for “Weltwoche” and “Die Zeit”.

He has been part of various senior editorial teams, was sports editor-in-chief at “Blick”, a writer for Tages-Anzeiger’s “Magazin” and a reporter for “SonntagsZeitung”. Award-winning journalist, guest lecturer and speaker at various colleges and universities.

Between 2011 and 2015 he was Director of Communications and Public Affairs at FIFA. Afterwards he founded his own consulting firm.

De Gregorio has dual Italian-Swiss citizenship and, in addition to its mother tongue German and Italian, he speaks fluent English and French as well as Portuguese and Spanish in creative raw form.

He was socialised as a Juve fan in childhood, but he is also approaching happiness at other clubs today.

De Gregorio is married, has three children, two Labradors and lives on Lake Zurich.
